North Goa or South Goa? Which is the place to be? The answer is based on what you want to explore and experience in Goa. Both the regions have their own positives and negatives.

Crowd is more in South Goa or North Goa?

North Goa beaches like Baga and Calangute are certainly more crowded with local and foreign tourists than South Goa beaches like Agonda and Palolem. North Goa is good for you if you like to be around large crowds and a convivial atmosphere all the time. On the other hand, if you prefer some alone time or a quiet walk on the beach or on the streets, south Goa is the place to be.

Most beaches in Goa offer a beautiful sunset and a wide horizon view. However, South Goa’s Palolem and Benaulim might beat the north Goa beaches when it comes to scenic beauty. Palolem, in particular, makes for a stunning view with its palm trees and crescent shape.
The famous forts such as Fort Aguada and Chapora Fort are the perfect ones to make memories for lifetime in North Goa. Adore the view of the awe-inspiring sea, facing the forts. If this is not enough then dare to click pictures with some Bengal tigers at Mhadei Wildlife Sanctuary and Bondla Wildlife Sanctuary.
These is more to Goa than just the beaches. Old Goa has some amazing structures like the Basilica De Bom Jesus and Se cathedral. Most other tourist attractions like Dona Paula and Fort Aguada are also located in north Goa so it scores over the south when it comes to sight-seeing.

Night Life in Goa
North Goa wins hands down when it comes to parties and events. From Curlies in Anjuna, to Club Cabana and Tito’s near Baga, and Katzensuppe near Vagator, north Goa has abundant night clubs renowned for their parties.
North Goa is always live in the night with some beach festivals and night clubs. The shacks are also the main attractions of North Goa over the South Goa.

Which part of Goa is good to visit for shopping?
North Goa – Best markets for budget shopping: Flea markets of North Goa sells clothes, jewellery and souvenirs for hard core shoppers and bargainers. The markets are a wonderful blend of Tibetan, Kashmiri and Gujarati trinkets, bed covers, wooden craft and much more; the list is endless. While crashing the beguiling beaches of North Goa, a visit to Anjuna market, Arpora market and Maposa market should be on your list
South Goa – Goa’s most exclusive collections: You don’t need to sing Saturday-Saturday song as the flea markets of South Goa have something special in its bag everyday. They are less crowded which makes you enhance your bargaining skills. So hit the Palolem market, Colem market and Caculo market and shop till your pockets weep.

Food and Beverages
While there are amazing restaurants all over Goa, North Goa does beat the south when it comes to the variety of options available. Britto’s at Baga, Curly’s at Anjuna, Baba Au Rhum at Vagator, the list goes on and on.
The local shops at beaches are also not bad, but they will open only in the night.

Accommodation in Goa
Accommodation is a crucial factor when you decide which part of Goa is good to visit and explore. There are several accommodation options available in Goa ranging from cheap to expensive. From budget hostels in Anjuna to the five-star Grand Hyatt in Bambolim, north Goa has a place to stay for all kinds of pockets.
While south Goa too has options, they are not as varied as the ones in north Goa. However, if you are looking for luxury accommodation, south Goa has some splendid options as compared north Goa. Due to this kind of pricing, south Goa attracts fewer tourists making it apt for a quieter and more luxurious stay.
